Do you know how to use Social Media...?

In today's special, I want to address the importance of creating, managing and maintaining your social network profile.  Yeah, I know... Sounds like work, but its worth it.

Anytime you want to you can use NetFluence to help your social networking, but there is a price to pay for the gains you make.  If you are not careful, then all the work you do, will have tobe repeated time and time again.

Understanding this is key to managing and maintaining your social profile and the relationships that you build. Social networking is being responsible for yourself and others.  Its about growing andmaking an investment in not just yourself, but those in the network itself.

Now, I'm sure that I'll get some flack for this, but its OK to "toot your own horn" about something that you are doing.  If you have a real purpose in your site, then its your responsibility to find and communicate effectively with people of the same interest.

In other words, what are YOU contributing to the betterment of the community you are involved with?  Are you helpful? Encouraging? Are you working with other people in the community?  If not, then you need to work on your human relationships...You owe your success to the success of others. If not, then it won't work for you.

In an article today, in his series on Social Media, SEO expert Charles Heflin at SEO2020.com and CharlesHeflin.com wrote about the effect of POOR social networking.

"If your sole reason for using social media websites or social bookmarking websites is to build links to enhance the rankings of your own web properties then you could be in for a nice spanking from Google and you are probably seeing ZERO results from Yahoo! and MSN"

The responsibility is really on you for visiting, commenting and further helping others at the same time.  In any social environment, its easy to find the attitude of the people that are selfish and only self-serving.

Do yourself and everyone a favor by reading his article

Until next time - To your success.
